Late summer 2006 saw the birth of The Flashback Project with DJ Flashback starting a series of studio sessions with well-respected hardcore studio engineer Hattrixx (who was personally recommended to DJ Flashback by DJ Vibes). Having been a part of the nu-skool breaks scene for a few years, playing regularly at events as one half of 'The Breakz Alliance', whilst maintaining his old skool hardcore credentials (in his 17th year now!), DJ Flashback immediately locked into the new Hardcore Breaks/Nu-rave sound that was emerging from artists such as Darkus, Vinyl Junkie, Stu & Nee, Enzyme & Malice (to name but a few) which fused the old skool sound and vibe from the past with brand new fresh up-to-date studio production from the present.

'Love Commandments' was the first track to be completed using an obscure vocal sample with fresh pianos and beats and was signed by DJ Slipmatt's Ravebreakz label. 'Dubwize' soon followed as a darker, more direct dance-floor filler. 'Ease Da Pressure' was conceived after using some freshly recorded vocals from the legendary Angie Brown (with many thanks and much respect to Grant and all at Digitalmuzik) and was an original track using an interpolation of Bizarre Inc.'s classic 'Playing With Knives'. This was too signed by Ravebreakz as the AA-side to Love Commandments and this vinyl will be appearing in the next few months. Ease Da Pressure has also been earmarked for release as part of the Raindance / Helter Skelter Ministry Of Sound album due for release Dec 26th 2006. At the same time ‘Hands In he Air’, a track that DJ Flashback had recently completed with Stu & Nee from Enormous Mouse Records was signed to Mert Wax and is currently due for imminent release.

‘The Masterplan’ was written soon afterwards and employed the not inconsiderable vocal talents of Empi and Kelly C to produce a rolling, energetic dance-floor smash which was quickly signed by Junki Munki to Junki Munki Records. Late in 2006 DJ Flashback went on to remix a DJ Vibes classic ’93 track and the resulting ‘Obsession (Music So Wonderful) Remix’ was quickly signed by DJ Tornado to Tornado Records, and is due for release in late Summer 2007. During the same period, at the end of 2006 DJ Flashback completed a track that he had been working on with DJ Malice of 2Fresh and the resulting ‘You Got It’ was signed to Firewall Records for release in late 2007.

At the start of 2007, DJ Flashback completed an updating and complete overhaul of P.P. Orange’s classic ’91 track ‘My Feeling’ which was signed to Junki Munki Records due for release Summer 2007. He then went on to write ‘Another Dimension’, a deeper more ambient style of track, and ‘Promised Land’, a heavily reggae-influenced piano dance-floor smash, both were quickly signed to Tornado Records.

2008 has seen The Flashback Project working on Prodigy remixes with an American Label, dance remixes for a brand new UK pop band and of course working on their own material resulting in three massive new tracks ‘Sounds A Bit Soapy’ – a hooky nu skool breaks influenced track paying homage to the legendary Old Skool Hardcore label Soapbar Records, ‘Lose Control’ another vocal piano smash, and put a new slant on an old favourite to produce ‘The Masterplan’ (Ravebreakz VIP),  the latter two both signed to Can You Feel It Media.

Further offerings include ‘Blow Ya Mind’ with DJ Malice, the follow up to their hugely popular ‘You Got It’. The Flashback Project continue to work on new ideas in the studio and will have new material for general consumption in the very near future, watch this space..!
